Biology in year 8

The main topics of our bilingual Biology class in year 8 are ecology, ecosystems like forests and lakes and evolution, especially the theories of Darwin and Lamarck. The classroom language is English but don’t worry, many specific terms in science are similar to the German words. In today’s world the language of science is English and many scientists publish their work in English. This gives us the opportunity to work with the original texts, for instance Darwin’s theory of natural selection. The lessons are hands-on, including experiments and studying models. Pictures, diagrams and statistics make it easy to understand Biology. Of course, the scientific terms will be given in German and English so there won’t be any gaps in the German Biology classes in the following years.
